Perfect lunch spot in Chelsea

If you are looking for a lunch spot near the Sloane Square underground station, I may have a suggestion where to indulge yourself… I had read mixed opinions on tripadvisor about Tom’s kitchen restaurant in Chelsea and wanted to judge by myself. I had quite high expectations in terms of food, as this restaurant was opened in November 2006 by Michelin starred chef Tom Aikens. And I shall say that I walked out of the place quite satisfied, as you will see in this article…

A quiet place nestled in Chelsea

Stepping out of King’s Road, heading to South Kensington, I was struck by the beauty and quietness of Chelsea’s area. Lovely streets with small buildings and houses, flowers and even terraces, people chatting at the front of food stores…
The atmosphere there is surprisingly calm and you feel a world away from London city life!
Old cars are commons in the area and eclecticism is the master word to describe the buildings in Chelsea.
Whether in bricks or painted in vivid colours or in immaculate white, the buildings offer different aspects I really appreciate.

Perfect food in a perfect place

I was quite late on this busy Thursday and while walking fast to the restaurant I was drooling over the tasty and fresh food images I had in mind…
I was warmly welcomed by the staff and as I said I had not much time for lunch, I was advised the salad of the day…
And the salad was served, as promised, in a very short time. Moreover, that was a wonderful recommendation! This summer salad was the best way to cheer me up considering the miserable weather in London at the moment…
The ham was awesome, the avocados very smooth and tasty, the endive was deliciously sweet and crisp, the purple potatoes were still warm, the broccolis perfectly cooked, the giant couscous much welcomed to help me hold on until the end of the day …and last but not least, the multi-seeds added value and flavours to the salad. Every bite was a treat! And as I have seen around me, I was not the only one to savour my dish…

A dedicated staff

Everything was made for me to feel at ease at the restaurant. The staff members were all very attentive and they helped me stick to my tight schedule…

Tom’s Kitchen is for me the perfect place to enjoy a tasty lunch out of the crowd near Sloane Square (or South Kensington). You can easily combine it with a visit to the nearby Saatchi Gallery (currently presenting the iconic music group The Rolling Stones) or even to the Cinema (Tom’s Kitchen has teamed up with the Curzon Cinema Chelsea).

Enjoy! And feel free to share your own experience and leave a comment on this blog…
