Are you taking on Dry January or not?!

Let’s be honest: for many of us, the end of the year means  “festive indulgence”, while the beginning of the new year goes hand-in-hand with “alcohol abstinence”…

Oscar Wilde was a master at analysing human weaknesses when he cynically said:

“Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess”.

Now that you have enjoyed every single day in December, look ahead and stay off the alcoholic drinks for a while… (if you can). Your body needs a break, and you certainly need some convincing arguments to behave…Let’s see what London offers to those in need of a detox-starting-year!

If that’s not easy to set up such a personal project, you can in the first time take part in a collective challenge to get some motivation. You’re not alone! Go and see the Alcohol Concern Campaign. Think at all the good reasons to stop drinking alcohol for a few weeks…The “new you” is underway!
Doyouspeaklondon Lifestyle London BlogIf you’re more willing to find your physical balance back within comfort and attention, why not follow these recommandations from Travel & Leisure website? You’ll find places where to eat and drink healthy, and also where to train or… relax in a Spa without any remorse! Who said that Wellness and Health had to be associated with pain…?

And for those taking on Dry January that fear loneliness or difficulty to stick to their resolutions, you still can go out and find enjoyable alternatives to have a drink.. Have you ever tried a mocktail (= a non-alcoholic drink consisting of a mixture of fruit juices or other soft drinks.)? London is full of “Dry January Bars” offering a wide range of cocktails that you’ll love! From the “happily affordable” to “splash your cash” places described in this article, you’ll make your way to recover happily from the end-of-the-year-parties. Even restaurants adapt their menus to the Londoners looking for alcohol-free delights. I recommend this blog “Londonist” referring to many places, from bars & restaurants, but also museums and coffee shops.

The hardest thing for you now will be to make your choices where to spend the 24 last days of the month without drinking alcohol… In the end, the “Dry-January” resolution will be a good one to stick to and you may remember it next January after your excesses of December. Enjoy the month, the year.. and take care!
