On a sunny day, I finally rode Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station with my daughter. I had been eagerly anticipating this adventure, as I’ve always loved soaking in sweeping views of London. Seeing the city from such a height never fails to amaze me, and this experience was no exception, it was truly exhilarating!
Today, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON invites you to see London from an entirely new perspective!

Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station
Lift 109 is an exhilarating new attraction inside the iconic Battersea Power Station.
The adventure begins with the express Chimney Lift, which whisks you effortlessly, without any pressure sensations, to the base of the north-west chimney.
From there, you board London’s brand-new glass elevator: Lift 109.

Before the ride, you’ll wait in a dedicated area featuring informative displays about the history of Battersea Power Station. The signs are concise and engaging.

Offering a stunning 360-degree view over London and the power station itself, this glass elevator ride is a must-visit. The origin of this innovative project lies in the vision to breathe new life into the historic power station, blending its rich industrial heritage with modern marvels.

The redevelopment was designed to create a one-of-a-kind visitor experience, letting people take in the city’s grandeur from an unmatched vantage point while highlighting the architectural significance of Battersea Power Station. I must say, they’ve truly mastered it.
The Lift 109 experience

After taking the Chimney Lift for the first part of the journey, we walked up a few steps to a glass elevator. It accommodates a limited number of people, so it’s a bit exclusive. The rest happens quickly: constellations of light guide your way as the lift ascends to the viewing platform, 109 meters above ground. It’s an exhilarating experience!

360° views of London from above
The view from up there is simply stunning. Be sure to choose a sunny day to make the most of it!

We soaked in London’s iconic landmarks and breathtaking skyline, all while enjoying a rare aerial view of the Power Station itself.

Unfortunately, our time at the top was limited to about seven minutes, and with a staff member counting down, it added a touch of pressure to the experience.

Compared to the London Eye, I found the Chimney Lift even more thrilling. The rapid ascent and dramatic arrival at the top amplified the excitement. Perched high atop what felt like a chimney, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of exhilaration … and a hint of vertigo!

The experience had its downsides, starting with the limited time – 7 minutes pass quickly when you’re trying to take in all of London’s sights and capture memories with your daughter!
Additionally, the ticket prices for Lift 109 are on the higher side, although there’s a reduced rate for children.

In terms of views, because of its location and height, iconic landmarks appear more distant compared to the London Eye, where we felt closer to attractions like the Parliament and Big Ben. However, these different perspectives offer complementary views of the city.
I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about Lift 109. If you’re planning to visit for a unique experience, I’d love to hear all about your adventure on DOYOUSPEAKLONDON!
