Murder Express: London immersive dinner theatre

Murder Express Immersive dinner theatre in East London Doyouspeaklondon London lifestyle blog

What could be better than a murder mystery with a funny cast of actors… and a delicious dinner to enjoy along the way?

I discovered “The Murder Express Part Deux: Jewel of the Empire” recently and loved it so much I can’t wait to see their next adventure!

Today, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON presents you a fabulous and unique way to spend a fun afternoon or evening in London!

The Murder Express experience: dinner, drama and fun!

The Murder Express set the scene for something really special: a theatrical dining experience that transports you straight into 1920s–30s London.

First, you meet up in East London to board a luxury (fictional) train at the equally fictional Pedley Street Station.

You kick things off at the platform bar with a drink in hand, soaking up the atmosphere, before heading into the elegant dining carriage.

But this isn’t just any meal, and it’s certainly not your usual theatre, you’re not simply a guest; you’re a full-on passenger on this charmingly quirky, immersive journey!

On board, you’ll tuck into a delicious three‑course meal created just for the experience, while cocktails and drinks are available at the platform bar before and during the ride.

In short, the show is a perfect mix of immersive theatre, gourmet food, and interactive storytelling, and 100% fun!

It’s a truly original way to enjoy London nightlife, giving you the thrill of stepping back in time without ever leaving the city.

Theatre with a fun twist: why Part Deux is a must‑try!

Here’s what makes this experience such a standout:

A fresh murder mystery

Set in 1937, the story revolves around the disappearance of the world’s most valuable diamond, “the Jewel of the Empire”.

The cast is full of colourful characters, from a bold archaeologist to a very French detective and a handful of mysterious strangers wandering around the train.

As the bodies start to drop and the missing diamond becomes the talk of the carriage, the tension (and the laughs) only get bigger. We honestly laughed our way through the entire afternoon!

Immersive, not passive

The show isn’t just about watching actors: you and your fellow guests are gently pulled into the story.

You might be asked a few questions, share a laugh, or even have an actor join you at your table during the meal. It’s a light, fun way to feel part of the action without ever being put on the spot.

Gorgeous food & ambiance

The three‑course menu is carefully crafted to match the glamour of a 1930s first‑class train.

We started with elegant gougères as an amuse‑bouche, followed by a silky Asparagus Velouté starter.

For the main, we enjoyed a mouthwatering Beef Bordelaise with mushrooms, baby onions, orzo, and pom purée, all finished with a rich red wine sauce. Absolutely delicious!

And for dessert, honestly, the best Sticky Toffee Pudding I’ve ever had, drizzled with butterscotch sauce and served with ice cream.

All of this was served in a beautifully styled carriage, with vintage lamps, period décor, and scenic projections that made us feel like we were truly speeding through 1930s France, turning the meal into an unforgettable journey back in time.

Not West End: more intimate, more personal

London is synonymous with theatre, but this isn’t West End glitz. Immersive, quirky, and wonderfully East London, it takes place in a converted station carriage near White Chapel.

A secret world where theatre is reimagined and London feels delightfully different!
