The last day of August has always been special, it’s my son’s birthday. Every year, we make a point of finding somewhere unique to celebrate, and this year, at his request, we ended up on a barge at sunset. The evening was pure magic from start to finish!
Peggy Jean, the floating restaurant moored on Richmond Riverside, gave us golden hour views, delicious food, and the perfect setting to say goodbye to summer in style.
Today, join DOYOUSPEAKLONDON on Peggy Jean for a dreamy riverside dinner!

Peggy Jean: a floating gem on the Thames
Peggy Jean is part of the Daisy Green Collection, known for turning quirky London spots (like Holland Park Café or Audrey Green in the National Portrait Gallery, to name a few) into memorable dining experiences.

In Richmond, the twist is especially delightful: dinner on a barge, with the Thames flowing gently beside you and the charming streets of Richmond on the opposite bank. It’s a little riverside escape right in the heart of the city!

Moored on Richmond Riverside, Peggy Jean combines cosy indoor corners with an open riverside deck. It’s perfect for soaking up the sun or watching the lights twinkle over the Thames as evening falls. And don’t worry if it’s a bit chilly, there are blankets to keep you warm.
Honestly, the cold is no excuse to miss this lovely spot!

Whether it’s a birthday, a catch-up with friends, or just a laid-back riverside dinner, Peggy Jean is a charming spot and easily one of the most unique places to eat in Richmond.
Golden hour and riverside dining in Richmond
Dinner on the Thames is always a treat, but catching it at golden hour in Richmond was pure magic! As the sun dipped, the river glowed with gold and pink, and Peggy Jean felt like the perfect spot for a late-summer evening.

Sitting outside, I couldn’t help but notice something I’ve always admired about Londoners: no matter the season or weather, they make the most of being outdoors!

Even in late summer, when the evenings are quite chilly (compared to the south of France where I come from), people still enjoy riverside drinks, dinners, and sunshine.

I love that mix of bravery and sheer determination to enjoy the outdoors to the fullest. It makes evenings like this on Peggy Jean feel even more special.
Foodie highlights at Peggy Jean
The setting is only half the story, the food deserves just as much attention. Peggy Jean’s menu is full of colourful, flavour-packed dishes that feel both indulgent and fresh. We were absolutely delighted with everything we tried…

These are the highlights from our Peggy Jean feast:
-
Tandoori salmon with avocado salsa: perfectly spiced, vibrant, and served with an addictive puffed rice salad!
-
Roasted monkfish on the bone: tender, beautifully cooked, and absolutely scrumptious.
-
Harissa chicken paillard: bursting with flavour, and so well seasoned.
-
Chicken parmigiana: rich, comforting, and a total crowd-pleaser!

Bold flavours, thoughtful cooking, and the relaxed riverside vibe combined made this dinner truly memorable!
