A day in Cliveden

If you want to indulge yourself on a sunny day, go to Cliveden! This national trust is located west of London, near Slough and Windsor. This place offers magnificent gardens overlooking the River Thames and far-reaching views. The amateurs of flowers will be delighted, those looking for a nap in the sun won’t forget it, and if you are under 10 you’ll enjoy doing rolls on the grass!

Beautiful flowers

I was not overly fond of flowers before coming to the UK. But it seems that being always surrounded by so many vivid colours and original shapes lead to a real personal interest for flowers. And Cliveden is with no doubt a place where you could fall in love for flowers too…
As the painter Henri Matisse said “There are always flowers for those who want to see them”. And that is very true in the UK as I keep discovering new flowers every day…

Amazing gardens

I don’t know who designed Cliveden’s gardens, nor where their inspiration came from… But I guess Mr Le Notre would have been delighted of the result, as the central parterre and the sculptured bushes show similarities with the gardens in Versailles or Sceaux near Paris, in France, where the landscape architect worked.
Fountains and towers also take part in the romantic charm of the place…
As well as ponds and herons…

Near the entrance you also have the opportunity to get lost in a maze. I can ensure you that playing hide and seek in it is like a rejuvenating cure and parents there were more numerous than young children! Go to Cliveden…and stay young!
