Fulham Pier: the Thames spot that feels like a mini holiday!

I’ve been spending a lot more time in Fulham over the past few months, and it’s how Fulham Pier first landed on my radar.

I didn’t know much about it at first, just kept clocking the name as I explored more of the area. After I finally went, I understood why it’s become one of the most talked-about riverside destinations in South-West London.

Today, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON takes you to Fulham Pier to see what all the buzz is about. From its riverside setting and relaxed atmosphere to the food, drinks and things to do that make it worth a visit.

The story behind Fulham Pier, London

Fulham Pier opened in June 2025, part of Fulham Football Club's Riverside Stand redevelopment.
For anyone who doesn't follow football, Craven Cottage is Fulham FC's home ground and it happens to be London's oldest professional football stadium, tucked right on the riverbank.

That riverside position is exactly what made Fulham Pier possible. The redevelopment opened up a stretch of the stadium that used to be closed off, turning it into somewhere anyone can visit, matchday or not.

What used to be an inaccessible stretch of riverside has become a proper destination. Think food hall, bars, live entertainment, and a walkway you can actually stroll along.

It sits between Putney Bridge and Hammersmith Bridge, on a stretch of the Thames that already feels a little more relaxed than central London.

The design leans into that ship-like, industrial feel: steel trusses overhead, striking artwork by British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori dotted throughout. It doesn't feel like a typical stadium extension at all!

Things to do at Fulham Pier: food, drinks and riverside atmosphere

The atmosphere is really cool: outside, you've got deckchairs and lounges right along the river. Inside, there's live music, bars, and even a ping pong table for those who like to stay active.

It's the kind of mix that works for a lot of different moods: a quiet drink at sunset; a lively night with friends; a lazy Sunday stroll that turns into lunch.

There's also a packed events programme year-round like monthly Roller Disco sessions, cinema sessions, Comedy Box stand-up nights, wellness activities (yoga and sound healing), a riverside run club, plus wine clubs, workshops, and family-friendly Sunday sessions.

Food and drinks are easy here: everything's available inside the food hall, and then you choose your setting: a table indoors, or a lounger by the water.

I went on a summer evening for a drink with friends, and the light on the river as the sun dropped was honestly the whole experience. Joggers and rowers going past, a buzzy crowd settled into deckchairs, that low hum of a place that's found its rhythm already.

Why Fulham Pier is worth visiting on your next London trip

London has plenty of riverside spots, but few feel this unhurried. Fulham Pier doesn't try to be flashy, it just gives you space by the water and lets the evening happen.

Also it's free to enter, which makes it an easy addition to a day out in Fulham with a visit to Fulham Palace (free) or a walk through nearby Bishops Park.

It's the kind of place I'd suggest to a friend visiting London who wants something a little different from the usual Southbank or Shoreditch spots. Somewhere local, unpolished in the best way, and genuinely lovely at golden hour.

One thing worth knowing: Fulham Pier closes on Fulham FC matchdays, so it's worth checking the fixture list before you go.
