Every May, Chelsea takes on a different feel. If you’ve never explored the neighbourhood during Chelsea in Bloom, it’s one of London’s most creative (and photogenic) events, and easy to miss if you don’t know it’s happening.
This week, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON looks at what makes it so special, and why it’s worth catching before it disappears for another year.

Chelsea in Bloom: have you experienced it yet?
Every May, Chelsea transforms for one week as its elegant streets burst into colour. Shopfronts, restaurants and hotels become living installations: a spectacle I’ve visited for years, and one that never disappoints.

Organised by Cadogan in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), Chelsea in Bloom runs alongside the famous Chelsea Flower Show, but brings the creativity out onto the streets themselves.

It’s rare to find a London event that feels this special and still completely free: no tickets, just open-air art, atmosphere, and a neighbourhood in full bloom!

Each year follows a new theme, shaping how the displays come to life. For 2025, Flowers in Fashion pays tribute to Chelsea’s style heritage, with floral designs inspired by couture, tailoring, and bold seasonal colour.

It’s no surprise it’s become a highlight of the London calendar, with both locals and visitors returning year after year as it continues to grow in scale and imagination.
Why Chelsea in bloom 2025 feels extra special
2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Chelsea in Bloom, and Chelsea has clearly stepped things up, with brands and venues pushing creativity further than ever.

Here’s what you need to know:
🗓 When? Running until 25 May 2025.
📍 Where? Across Chelsea, London: from shopfronts and elegant streets to tucked-away corners, all reimagined as floral installations.
🌸 What’s happening? Over 100 retailers, restaurants and hotels are taking part, transforming their façades into large-scale floral artworks. Expect everything from blooming handbags to full floral “couture” looks. Fashion week, but in flowers!
🏆 Why it matters? It’s not just decorative. The displays are judged by a panel of experts, with winners announced on 20 May. There’s also a public vote for the People’s Champion, so visitors can get involved too.

My Chelsea in Bloom picks
I’ve been out exploring Chelsea’s leafy catwalk and sharing my favourite displays over on Instagram (follow here if you haven’t already). A few installations really stopped me in my tracks, including Chelsea Punk on King’s Road.

This striking mohawk, created by Ricky Paul Flowers, is made entirely from fresh grass and blooms. It takes the rebellious energy of punk and reimagines it in a completely botanical way: bold, playful, and unexpected. It reportedly took five weeks to complete, which makes it even more impressive!

What stood out most this year, though, was how thoughtful some of the displays felt. The Ivy’s installation, for example, went beyond style alone, with a clear focus on sustainability, from reworked vintage pieces to bee-friendly planting. It feels like one of the most considered editions yet.
Where to wander: the prettiest streets in bloom
If you’re short on time, or simply want to take in the highlights, here are a few Chelsea streets you shouldn’t miss…
Sloane Square:
A central hub and ideal starting point, this is where some of the most iconic installations can be found, including this standout display by Ralph Lauren (see images below).

Duke of York Square:

Just a short stroll from Sloane Square, Duke of York Square is easy to reach. Head through the arcade beside Ralph Lauren and you’re there.
It’s a great place to wander at a slower pace, with floral displays throughout and plenty of cafés and food spots for a well-earned break along the way!

Pavilion road:
A charming pedestrian street near Sloane Square, known for its floral displays and boutique feel. If you haven’t been before, it’s well worth a visit!

King’s Road:
A charming pedestrian street near Sloane Square, with beautiful floral displays and an elegant, boutique feel.

During Chelsea Flower Show season, it becomes even more special, reflecting the creativity and attention to detail seen at the world-famous show just around the corner. If you haven’t explored it before, it’s a must-see, especially at this time of year when Chelsea is at its most colourful!

This is a completely free event, and honestly, it’s well worth the detour. Whether you’re a flower lover or just passing through, it’s hard not to leave feeling a little more inspired!
Feeling inspired? If you’re planning a visit to Chelsea in Bloom, I’d love to hear about your experience over on DOYOUSPEAKLONDON!
