Much like many children, mine have always been captivated by the allure of aquariums. Wherever we traveled, whether it was a bustling city like Paris or coastal destinations such as Cape Town, Brighton, and Monaco, their fascination with sea life remained constant.
So it’s no wonder we ended up venturing into London’s aquarium! We took the opportunity to combine our visit with a ride on The London Eye to take advantage of a discounted rate (more details at the end of this post).

1. SEA LIFE Aquarium: London’s best location for iconic landmarks!
The Sea Life London Aquarium sits along the River Thames, just steps away from iconic landmarks such as the London Eye, with stunning views of Big Ben and the Parliament.
Its prime location offers visitors the perfect starting point to explore the city’s renowned landmarks.
Whenever I’m out photographing London, this area always fills me with inspiration. It’s not just the iconic buildings that draw me in, but also the lively vibe created by the bustling crowds of tourists roaming the streets.
The perfect time to wander around this area is -in my opinion- definitely in Spring or Summer. As the days grow longer and warmer, there’s something magical about slowing down and soaking up the sunset along the Thames!
2. Exciting Insights into Sea Life!
This aquarium is like a treasure trove of underwater wonders! As you follow a path, you’ll discover a large array of fishes and aquatic animals in all shapes, sizes, and colours. Watching my children explore with curiosity, darting from one discovery to the next, was an absolute joy!
Each tank is equipped with informative signs that provide fascinating insights into their habitats and behaviours. It’s an incredibly enriching experience that will captivate visitors of all ages!
3. Immersive experience with real animals!
The aquarium offers several opportunities to get closer to the most incredible sea creatures…
Among the 10,000 captivating underwater beings present in the aquarium, you’ll meet cute Gentoo penguins (“the third largest species of Penguin in the world after the Emperor and Kings”), majestic Sand Tiger sharks (look at the “Shark Walk” below!!), and even the famous ‘Nemo’ clownfish!

4. Fun family outing!
Everything here is thought according to everyone’s pleasure: you will love to explore, touch and feel things!
With “Heads Up” Bubble windows, the kids can get even closer to the creatures and feel the excitement of being an explorer!
The kids are also encouraged to touch a starfish at the Rockpool, which my kids really loved!
5. Discounted tickets
There are various ways to secure discounted tickets.
If you’re visiting the aquarium with your family exclusively, it’s advisable to book online. By doing so, you can get advantage of the Online Family Ticket Saver, saving you up to 20%.
Alternatively, like we did, you can opt for a multi-attraction ticket, combining your visit with another attraction. With this option, you can select up to 5 additional attractions and enjoy increasing savings per ticket. This is particularly advantageous if you’re in London for a short stay and plan to explore attractions like The London Eye, Madame Tussauds, or the London Dungeon.
