The Jazz Room is a live jazz show presented by Fever, running in over 100 cities worldwide, and the London edition is hosted at the iconic Phoenix Arts Club in Soho.
The show is a tribute to the golden age of jazz and swing, celebrating legends like Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong through live performances in an intimate cabaret setting.
Phoenix Arts Club: Soho’s hidden Jazz gem
Hidden on Phoenix Street in the heart of the West End, the Phoenix Arts Club feels like one of those places I’m always so glad to discover.
I love the atmosphere there: candlelight, intimate tables close to the stage, film posters on the walls, cocktails and food available at the bar (there's even a Photo Booth!)... It feels warm, cosy, and effortlessly nostalgic!
The venue has a vintage cabaret charm that perfectly suits its live music nights and tribute performances.
The Jazz Room performances: live music that brings the classics to life
The show itself lasts around 60 minutes, and from the very first song it holds your attention completely. You could feel the room was totally captivated!
The singer's voice was stunning: she had an amazing vocal range handling both the lower and higher notes beautifully. She was then able to adapt to a wide range of songs from either Sinatra or Armstrong.
The musicians were also incredible to watch. From the pianist and saxophonist to the drummer and double bassist, they all looked completely immersed in the music: focused, passionate, and clearly enjoying every moment on stage!
We heard so many classics from both legendary singers, and when New York, New York began, the whole room seemed to come alive, people tapping their feet, smiling, completely caught up in the moment.
I also loved hearing everyone softly sing along to What a Wonderful World. There’s something really special about seeing live music bring a room together like that, it’s a reminder that nothing quite compares to the real thing.
The Jazz Room is one of those London experiences that stays with you. It's the perfect Jazz night out, not because it's flashy, but because it's exactly the opposite: intimate, timeless and beautifully performed, it works whether you're a lifelong jazz fan or simply after a night out that feels a little different.
