There are places where you instantly feel at home. The friendliness of the staff at your arrival, the abundance of decoration on the walls which creates a unique atmosphere, the comfort of the bench seats… and the secret garden!
As I walked into The Buttery in Belgravia (the restaurant is part of the adjoining hotel The Limetree), I knew I would find my little place of heaven. Just have a look at the pictures and you’ll see what I mean…
Today, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON invites you to The Buttery for a memorable lunch experience!
The Buttery, a hidden gem in Belgravia

I first discovered this place back in December 2021. It was cold and gloomy outside, and like many of us, I needed a little pick-me-up to escape the pandemic blues…

I’d spotted the charming entrance door on a previous walk and promised myself I’d check it out next time I was in the area… that moment came last December when a friend and I had a manicure nearby (talk about a double treat!)

I arrived a little early and was so captivated by the place that I started snapping photos of every little corner (with just a few people around, it was easy to avoid disturbing anyone).

A casual, welcoming atmosphere where every detail is thoughtfully designed to make you feel at home, with a charming mix of natural, homemade, and country vibes.

When my friend arrived, we had a look at the menu and ordered our lunch straight away…
Tasty lunch at The Buttery
The menu was not particularly extensive, but we found exactly what we wanted.
Starting with fresh and tasty nibbles: Baba Ghanoush, Focaccia & Goats’ Cheese and Crispy Fried Squid with Sweet chilli dip, on which we threw ourselves voraciously.

Then we had our mains: a superfood salad for me and spiced Acorn Squash for my friend.

Each dish was beautifully presented, hearty, and packed with flavour. Such a delicious treat!

Before leaving this lovely spot, I couldn’t resist capturing the highlight of the place: the hidden garden!
Belgravia’s best-kept secret: this hidden garden!

Although it was quite cold outside, everything was ready to welcome guests in the garden: blankets had been provided everywhere and comfy cushions on the chairs were in place.

Such a peaceful and charming place in the heart of London, I could not believe my eyes… I have no doubt this will become my go-to place whenever I’m in the area from now on!
The Snug, a cosy private event space

I was literally under the charm of this room as soon as I discovered it.
In line with the rustic-chic style of the restaurant, this room is just as welcoming and I can easily imagine the benefits of a meeting here where comfort and relaxation would stimulate all hardworking minds…

But I can also see myself booking the space for an intimate party: the room welcomes up to 14 guests at the long table or can accommodate up to 30 guests standing.

I honestly could not recommend this place enough. It has everything we need just now: a comfy place, comfort food, caring staff…
I have not visited the hotel rooms though but I’ve heard they’re just as stylish and authentic as the rest of the place, which sounds ideal for my liking.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and found inspiration here. If you are about to book a table at The Buttery or a room at The Lime Tree soon, please share your experience and opinion on DOYOUSPEAKLONDON’s blog!
