Gaucho, the taste of Argentina in your plate!

I was told that Gaucho restaurants were the best place to enjoy tender and tasty meat in London. That’s true. And that the meat came from Argentina. Also true. Is this experience worth trying? Definitely! Let’s discover Gaucho’s Piccadilly branch, where we had a wonderful lunch lately…

Experiencing a little bit of Argentine life

This is the Gaucho restaurants’ motto. And as you listen to the staff’s accents, you can’t help but think that you have embarked on a little journey… The waiters were welcoming and attentive. They explained to us the origin of their meat: “At Gaucho the beef is sourced solely from the Pampas: an area of Argentine lowlands famous for its fertile soil, where the cows enjoy an organic and free-range lifestyle”. This is why it’s so tasty…
Then, the waiter presented us the different beef cuts: Chorizo, Lomo, Cuadril or Vacio.
Finally, what makes the Gaucho difference is the way of cooking the meat. As Gaucho underlines it: “grilling the meat over an open flame is a way of life in Argentina”.
Quite an interesting introduction to what we would taste later on…

Gaucho Piccadilly

We chose the Piccadilly location for its proximity to Hyde Park , where we wanted to spend the afternoon. It’s very funny that this restaurant is located on “Swallow Street”, which is quite evocative! And the restaurant occupies the former home of a Spanish Ambassador. As if it was a predestined location for Gaucho? An openness towards other food cultures!
I appreciated the simplicity of this interior design, in the brown and white tones. A quiet place in the heart of Piccadilly…

A delicious meal

We first had a quite unexpected and tasty appetizer made of different breads, including one with cheese, accompanied with a fresh olive oil & herbs marinade. Irresistible!
Then, we ate with great delight our respective meats: Chorizo (Sirloin) and Quadril (Rump), served with a tasty ratatouille…
The plate presentation was very simple, but what really mattered was to taste of fresh ingredients, full of flavors and textures.
That was a very good experience, which I warmly recommend!
