I’ve always loved the tradition of Afternoon Tea and the way it transforms with the seasons. Mariage Frères in Covent Garden has created a Halloween Afternoon Tea that is both enchanting and inventive, an inspired celebration of the season.

Mariage Frères in Covent Garden: a tea lover’s paradise!

On this website, I’ve highlighted Mariage Frères as one of the finest destinations for discovering and purchasing exceptional teas from around the world.

Located in the heart of Covent GardenMariage Frères offers an extraordinary selection of luxury teas, delivered with impeccable service and graceful precision, all within a truly stunning interior.

But teas aren’t the only delights awaiting you at Mariage Frères

Mariage Frères created the terms ‘French Art of Tea’ and ‘Cuisine au Thé’ which brought French elegance and taste into the world of Tea.

'We are always looking for the latest trends and ingredients in order to create an international menu with a French touch added to it', Romain Eppstein, Project Manager at Mariage Frères

The Cuisine au Thé is Mariage Frères’ signature concept, where every pastry and dish is delicately infused with their exquisite teas. Guests can enjoy an assortment of these creations upstairs, with a glimpse into the stunning Tea Emporium, or relax outside on the heated terrace, each setting offering its own kind of charm.

Magical Halloween Afternoon Tea Experience

"We’ve had different set menus for Halloween in the past and wanted to try something different this time”

This year, Mariage Frères transformed their Afternoon Tea into a Halloween experience, with a limited-edition menu at their flagship store from 25th–31st October, all for just £35 per person!

We began our special Afternoon Tea with cocktails that were simply unforgettable: original, surprising blends of spirits and infused teas unlike anything we’d ever experienced!

I chose my cocktail for its bright, summery hues, my husband took a more contemplative approach, selecting one that showcased his love of whisky.

Two very different choices, yet the result was the same: we were both wowed by the stunning presentation and impeccably balanced flavours!

What better way to complement these delicious cocktails than with a brand-new Afternoon Tea, brimming with bewitched pastries and delightfully spooky sandwiches?

The Chicken Ballotine with pumpkin, ginger and polenta and infused with Full Moon Party® green tea was the cutest of all. Everything was melting perfectly well in the mouth!

We were thrilled to try the spooky Black Bao Burger, filled with beef tataki and coleslaw infused with Chaï Parisen® tea, each bite a unique experience, with flavours unfolding one by one in a delightful explosion.

The orange mushroom sandwich, cashew hummus infused with Pleine Lune® tea was amazing too, with its petals on top (very tasty actually), the perfectly well-cooked vegetables inside and the smooth texture of the bread…

Scones lovers won’t be disappointed by these traditional pastries, served with the most delightful “Gelées extra de Thé” and butter.

Where to start with the desserts? Each one was a play of textures and flavors. The pumpkin and orange cheesecake with its green tea biscuit instantly reminded me of Yayoi Kusama’s art. This little masterpiece was beautiful, colourful, and utterly delicious!

The black macaron filled with chocolate ganache infused with Midnight Magic® red tea and a gianduja gooey centre was my favourite! The crispy shell of the macaroon combined with the melting filling was absolutely divine!

Our kids couldn’t get enough of the Fantôme de L’Opéra, a yuzu sponge cake with Italian meringue, perfectly sweet and delightfully melt-in-your-mouth!

Mariage Frères brunch: a taste of elegance in Covent Garden

If Afternoon Tea isn’t your thing, Mariage Frères also serves brunch and lunch menus that are just as tempting.

Our son went for the Le Classique menu, featuring homemade fresh orange juice, toasted brioche (devoured in no time!), scrambled eggs, artisan marinated smoked salmon and shrimp, and Japanese matcha green tea fromage frais with herbs and pomegranate glaze.

A hearty meal with a deliciously original French twist.

Last but not least, the Halloween-inspired cake was a showstopper, and our son even found room to devour it!

Our daughter opted for the Caprice du Gouverneur from the lunch menu, featuring the “Croque-Monsieur Mariage” with artisan smoked salmon, mesclun with Thé sur le Nil® tea, sweet potato crisps, and almonds. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented in a charming box. A truly wonderful choice!
