Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay: a stylish brunch at London’s highest restaurant!

360° views over London, bottomless bao buns, and a Tokyo-inspired dining room 60 floors up. A real treat with the whole city at your feet!

For years, the title of London's highest restaurant belonged to Duck & Waffle, on the 40th floor of a tower on Bishopsgate. Then Gordon Ramsay opened a restaurant 20 floors higher, on the very same street!

That's Lucky Cat Bishopsgate, an Asian-inspired restaurant on level 60 of 22 Bishopsgate, in the heart of the City. And at the weekend, it serves a sharing brunch with London at your feet!

Today, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON brings you to a special dining spot facing The Shard and St Paul's, on a gloriously sunny Saturday!

From Tokyo's jazz cafés to the top of 22 Bishopsgate

The very first Lucky Cat opened in Mayfair in 2019, in the space of Gordon Ramsay's old restaurant, Maze. Its designers looked to the kissas of 1930s Tokyo: little underground cafés for food, drinks and live jazz.

The name comes from the maneki-neko, the lucky cat with a raised paw that you've probably spotted by the till of many Chinese restaurants. It's said to beckon customers in and bring good fortune!

Fun fact: it actually comes from Japan, where these little figurines first appeared in Edo, today's Tokyo, more than 150 years ago. And here, a golden lucky cat holds your chopsticks!

Lucky Cat Bishopsgate opened in February 2025, as the fourth Lucky Cat in the world. It was part of Gordon Ramsay's biggest project yet: five venues at the very top of 22 Bishopsgate, the tallest building in the City of London.

Lucky Cat London brunch: enjoying level 60 views on a sunny Saturday

Arriving at 22 Bishopsgate

You'll spot the entrance from the street, with its big blue “22” and its colourful glass canopy. From there, a lift takes you all the way up to level 60.

Good to know: just two floors below the restaurant is Horizon 22, Europe's highest free viewing platform. I took you up there in a previous post!

Dark wood, lanterns and an open sushi counter

Upstairs, it feels like a stylish Tokyo hideaway in the sky: dark wood, blue armchairs and rows of glass lanterns over the long counter, where the chefs prepare sushi right in front of you.

A window table on a blue-sky day

We were so lucky with the weather that Saturday: a bright blue sky and London stretching out in every direction!

We arrived early, which gave me the perfect opportunity to wander around and capture some of the restaurant’s best views.

The Lucky Cat brunch menu

The Lucky Cat brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11.30am to 4pm, at £60 per person. All the dishes arrive in the middle of the table, to share.

For a little extra, the bottomless upgrade lasts 90 minutes, with prosecco, draught beer, Casamigos margaritas or champagne. There's also Oscietra caviar with a lotus bao, as a supplement.

Kyoto cucumbers, sushi and edamame

We tasted the whole brunch menu, and as a starter, the Kyoto cucumbers in sesame dressing were absolutely delicious. Such a simple dish, yet very good and so original!

The steamed edamame with Maldon salt and the chef's sushi platter are the classics of the menu. Nice to nibble on, but more familiar than surprising: the stars of the brunch were still to come!

Crispy pork belly and egg fried rice

Next came the crispy pork belly in a sweet and sour glaze, with the egg fried rice. The rice, with XO sauce and a slow-cooked egg, was really good and quite different from the usual!

Bottomless bao

And then came the bao buns, each one proudly stamped with the Lucky Cat logo.

There are three delicious options to try: tofu with spicy avocado (a lovely combination), GFC, or Gordon’s Fried Chicken, with pickles (perfectly crispy and packed with flavour), and black cod with gochujang miso (another favourite).

They were very good and original. The best part? They're bottomless, so you can ask for more!

Lucky lollies to finish

For dessert, two lucky lollies arrive standing in a bowl of crushed ice, each stamped with the logo. They're more about the look than the flavour, but they're pretty and fun to photograph!

Why Lucky Cat Bishopsgate is worth the ride up to level 60

At Lucky Cat, brunch turns into a game of spot-the-landmark: The Shard, St Paul's, the Thames and its bridges, all between two bites of bao!

On the same floor, the Lucky Cat Bar serves cocktails and the group's largest selection of Japanese whisky.
