Kew Gardens, Royal Botanic Gardens
I’ve featured Kew Gardens on this blog quite a few times, whether to explore the gardens themselves or to spotlight some of the incredible exhibitions they’ve hosted. One that really stood out for me was the stunning Chihuly exhibition back in 2019: truly unforgettable, and quite comparable to the current Marc Quinn exhibition.
Kew Gardens is packed with attractions and activities that are perfect for all ages! From the iconic glasshouses and the awe-inspiring Hive to the popular Treetop Walkway, as well as the stunning Rose and Mediterranean Gardens, there’s always something new to discover. It’s the perfect excuse to visit these beautiful gardens time and time again! (Check out my previous post about these renowned gardens).
I’ve been coming here regularly since I first arrived in London 10 years ago, and I’ve watched these gardens transform beautifully with the seasons and years.
I can honestly say it’s a magnificent spot for all nature and botanic lovers! Plus, it’s perfect for families looking for a big playground where kids can run wild and burn off some energy!
Marc Quinn’s art comes to life in Kew Gardens!
I discovered this exhibition with a friend on a lovely sunny day, which only enhanced the beauty of the surroundings.
Marc Quinn has crafted a variety of stunning artworks: there are eight sculptures of Orchids and Palms beautifully positioned around the glasshouses, five plants that have inspired medicine; four bronze Bonsai in the Temperate House octagons, and several interesting drawings and paintings in the gallery exhibition.
I was absolutely blown away by the outdoor Palms and Orchids! The stainless steel material creates stunning reflections of the surrounding environment – whether it’s the lush nature, nearby buildings, or even the people passing by.
At times, these sculptures seem to vanish as they blend seamlessly into their surroundings! These particular pieces above represent two of the five plants used in the treatment of certain diseases – like the ‘Happy Tree’ on the right.
You will find the Bonsai in the Temperate House Octagons.
I was initially surprised to see these massive ‘Bonsai’ sculptures, since bonsai trees are typically pruned to maintain their small size. In contrast, Marc Quinn created these pieces to break free from that constraint and reach their full height.
The gallery exhibition features a selection of Marc Quinn’s artworks in various formats and materials. I was especially drawn to his paintings, which burst with vibrant colours!

@Christine I can clearly visualise a creation from Marc Quinn at Chateau Lacoste! Thanks for sharing your thoughts
